5 Best Video Resources for Youth Ministry

In the age of digital media, having high quality and relevant content is essential to effectively ministering to the youth. Teens are surrounded by social media and its fast-paced nature, so it’s only natural for them to develop low attention spans.

So how do we compete with the likes of 6-second Vines or high production music videos?

We’ve gone through some of the best video resources for youth ministry and created this list to give you a diverse source of awesome videos.

1. The Skit Guys

Skit Guys - Youth Ministry video resourceThe Skit Guys have highly entertaining videos that do a great job in teaching valuable lessons about God’s word. If you’re ever in a situation where you need help preparing a lesson for class, these guys will do almost 90% of the work for you.

Their comedic approach to their presentation is what separates them from the rest and makes them fun to watch. They can also be very serious as well, so this makes for great discussions afterwards. They’ve been around since 2009, so there are plenty of skits to choose from.

3. Ascension Press

Ascension Press - Youth Ministry video resource

Ascension Press is a company that provides tons of resources to many ministries. They recently created a program called “Chosen” where they focus on teen faith formation, similar to the work that LifeTeen does. Their videos are arguably the best in terms of production quality.

However, there is a drawback to having higher quality. Unlike the other resources we’ve listed here, Chosen isn’t free. Their Faith Formation Starter Pack retails for $199 and comes with 8-DVDs (24 lessons), a student workbook, and leader’s guide. It’s one of the best resources to have if your ministry can afford it.

Outside da Box is a non-profit organization that produces teen-friendly short films to spark creative discussions among the youth. They incorporate teen actors into real-life situations to make their videos more relatable.

These videos would be great to use as supplements to your lessons, as they are only a few minutes of length. They cover a great deal of topics, ranging from sacraments to the gospel stories to real world struggles.

5. Spirit Juices Studios

Spirited Juices - Youth Ministry video resource

Spirit Juices Studios is an award-winning design studio specializing in film and video production. They are able to capture and deliver a story-telling experience of Catholicism through the lens of a camera.

While their video library may not portray direct gospel lessons or teachings, we wanted to share the inspirations that we felt while watching their films. Catholicism doesn’t have to be boring or outdated, and these videos show how digital media and the Church can be hand in hand. You can inspire your ministry as well, and illustrate to them the beauty of Catholicism through digital art.
